Aging Grapes in Downtown LA

This week Julie and Sarah talk wine. After a weekend getaway to southern California’s wine country, they learned the difference between a sweet and dry wine, how the aging process affects the taste of each bottle, and that tasting should be done in small doses. With this new found knowledge, they decided to explore the history of Los Angeles wine making. The ladies discuss their surprising discovery that LA used to be home to numerous vineyards and describe their visit to the one and only remaining winery in downtown. So, grab your corkscrew, your favorite red, and as always enjoy the SHOW!!!

Outer Space Astronauts

As pilot season draws to a close and the TV networks begin to make those tough decisions over which shows they want to pick up for a series, the SciFi Network wants their fans to participate! Go to www.scifi.com/outerspaceastronauts, and as they say "savor the power" by watching clips from the proposed animated SciFi TV show: Outer Space Astronauts, then answer a short survey as to whether or not you think the show should be greenlit!

Despite being ever so slightly bias because the proposed show was created by my longtime friend, Russell Barrett (who is an incredibly talented guy), I still giggle everytime I watch the short clips. However knowing Russell, I know that the snippets of OSA provide just a taste of the comedy that would be found in a full length episode complete with a beginning, middle, and end. Personally, I can't wait to see more--but of course YOU can be the judge!! So, check out Outer Space Astronauts and share your opinions!

sketch & improv

This week Sarah and Julie take a look at the LA improv/sketch circuit. Likening it to the off off off...off Broadway scene in New York, Sarah explains how the LA comedy theater scene is a place where struggling Angeleno actors can get out and practice their craft as well as meet new people. The girls discuss many of the improv schools and companies located in LA including Groundlings, Second City, Upright Citizens Brigade, Improv Olympic and Acme as well as some theaters like Westside Eclectic that bridge the gap between live comedy theater and online community. The girls concur that whether you are in the mood to brush up on your improv performance skills or just want a good giggle, there are plenty of choices any night of the week. So, grab a partner, your favorite oversized prop, and as always enjoy the SHOW!!!
